This is such an amazing project, devoted to vacant spaces and what community dwellers wish were there. I was intrigued when I learned that this began in post-Katrina New Orleans in 2010. Read more about the project’s origins (and check out the photos!) here.
Love the textures and colors here. But this is one case where I’m not completely sure if the marriage of modern and rustic works for me. There’s something about the plastic of the Eames-style chairs that just doesn’t rest at complete ease with the depth of the paintings and old wood. The orange vase on the mantle was a stroke of color-contrast genius, but the pinks, yellows, and grey-greens of those chairs just don’t give the same “pop.” I’ll be wracking my brain all day, trying to imagine what chairs I would choose for that space!

I might not do the necklaces, myself, but I love the ay the art collage accentuates the rustic look of the old leather.

“The Executive Coloring Book.” My head just about exploded.
I should also point out that it’s from 1961, not by that hipster kid with the tiny pants living down the street from you.
